TEXTLE DESIGN – 2 days, 3 ways

Want to try something new with fabric?  How about printing your own?

Come and learn three ways to print on fabric.

Botanical Printing:  You will learn to print with leaves on silk and cotton fabric. As a bonus you will also make prints on high quality watercolor paper.  You can experiment with adding color or pattern with Inktense pigment crayons.  Like all natural processes, sometimes you get great prints and sometimes it doesn’t work. The element of surprise makes this a super fun class and yields great results.

Rust Printing:  Print unique and interesting designs on your fabric using rusty objects.  We rust 2 fat quarters using various objects.  You are encouraged to bring items from home or you can use some of Glenda’s.

Mud resist:  A chance to play in the mud using Glenda’s fermented mud to paint or stencil on fabric.  This special mud has been fermented using wheat bran and when applied to fabric that has been treated with tannin is permanent. You can draw free hand or bring a stencil to experiment with overall patterns.  You’ll have time to do at least one fat quarter, and if you desire, probably do a second piece.

This is an introductory class.  We won’t spend a lot of time on the theory and science behind why any of these techniques work – you will be busy producing several items to take home. This is a make and take introductory class.

Cost $130.00 plus $25.00 materials fee
